Sen. Durbin Just SHOCKED the GOP with a Major Announcement, Republicans Are Shaking in Their Boots

President Trump blew a dog whistle for his racist base last week when he called predominantly black nations “sh*thole countries” during a meeting with lawmakers in the Oval Office. Democratic Sen. Dick Durbin emerged from the meeting feeling disgusted by the derogatory words that spewed from the president’s mouth.

Sen. Durbin courageously confirmed Trump’s remark knowing that he’d get attacked by the right. Republican Senators Tom Cotton and David Perdue both accused Durbin of “misrepresenting” the president’s words.

Ben Marter, who serves as Sen. Durbin’s spokesman, responded to Cotton and Perdue in a fiery tweet calling them out on their lie.

Marter wrote:

“Yesterday, Senators Cotton and Perdue “could not recall” what the President said. Today they can. That, folks, is a credibility problem.”

Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen then attempted to back up the Republican Senators by also claiming that she didn’t hear the words “sh*thole countries” during the meeting.

Marter responded in a tweet: “Secretary Nielsen is visibly uncomfortable having to lie — twice — to cover for the President. Pretty early in her tenure to lose her credibility but that’s the deal you make when you sign on to be a face of this Administration,” Marter wrote.

Prominent conservative writer Erick Erickson also criticized Trump’s Republican backers:
